Appropriate Adults Working In Schools

Successful recruitment and employment at the Academy depends upon finding people with the necessary qualifications, skills and personal values who want to join us. We expect staff to uphold our aims and to safeguard the welfare of young people in our care. We welcome the work of the DfES in improving safeguarding procedures and will ensure that our practices at least meet the national guidelines. In the HR department, our commitment is to maintain a culture of awareness, openness and vigilance which is reflected in our recruitment practices i.e.

  1. All offers of employment at the Academy are subject to an enhanced level Criminal Records Bureau check
  2. Employment reference requests include questions about suitability to work in a school environment with children
  3. Interview questions will be designed to look for indications of inappropriate attitude or behaviour towards children
  4. Staff are subject to a code of conduct which includes a section on indentifying and reporting inappropriate behaviour of others

The Academy keeps its employment practices under constant review and will do whatever is necessary to safeguard young people in our care.
