About us

Shelfield Community Academy specialises in English and literacy, sport and physical education.

As an Ormiston Academy our vision is that of a society where every child and young person feels valued, safe, and free from prejudice, isolation and stigma.

Being an academy gives us the independence to maximise the potential of all students by building on their abilities, interests and aptitudes. We use fresh approaches to and encourage active learning to help our students achieve.

The Academy Executive is our Junior Leadership Team, which is made up of 27 students who represent the voice of every child and young person at Shelfield. They have worked with the Children’s Trust, Youth Services, Police Force, Education Consultants and the Local Education Authority. They work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure that Every Child Matters is at the forefront of our systems, policies, initiatives and daily routine.
